Marine composite challenge

The Composite Alliance of Rhode Island and the US Office of Naval Research (ONR) have set up a maritime composites competition open to all Rhode Island composite companies.

Participants will be given the opportunity to be awarded one of two initial US$250K seed funding awards and a follow-up US$750K award for prototype development of solutions to three specific US Navy problems.

The ONR's topics for the challenge include: development of 10,000 psi (6000m) rated composite pressure vessels, self-healing methods for composite materials and mitigating adverse marine effects on composite materials.

The proposal deadline is 26 April. Go here for more information.
