The Carbon Disclosure Project, an NGO that measures how publicly traded companies manage climate change risk and opportunities, has raised Kordsa’s score from C- to B.
Kordsa’s B grade (the upper level of the management band) followed the company’s plans to better manage the risks and opportunities related to climate change. In its 2018 sustainability report, the value chain and sustainability effects of its tire reinforcement and composite technologies business lines were schematically demonstrated, while its number of patent applications reached 670 and the number of inventions reached 183 as of the end of 2018 in a bid to create more lightweight materials. Kordsa says that also saved US$1.82 million through its recycling efforts by reusing approximately three million paper tubes.
