Jushi Group opens fibreglass plant in Egypt

The new production facility has been established in an industrial zone near Port Said from where it will supply fibreglass products to Europe.

HELM AG is the exclusive distribution partner for Jushi in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as for large thermoplastic producers across Europe.

Phase 1 of the development will see an annual production capacity of 80,000 tonnes. By 2017/18, the total capacity of the Egyptian site is planned to reach 200,000 tonnes per annum. The plant will serve Jushi’s distribution business in Europe, as well the Middle East and India.

In the Egyptian plant, Jushi will produce a full range of traditional products, but with a strong focus on the growing thermoplastics market in Europe. New chopped strands will be supplied to the European market for polyamide, PBT and polypropylene polymers, as well as LFT rovings.

Jushi Group, headquartered in the Tongxiang Economic Development Zone, Zhejiang, China, is one of the world’s largest producers of fibreglass reinforcements. With three production bases in Tongxiang, Jiujiang, and Chengdu, and total assets of over US$1.3 billion, Jushi has 10,000 employees and can produce over 900,000 tonnes of fibreglass per year. Expansion plans include adding an additional 500,000 tonnes of melt capacity by 2015.
