Investment in recycling additives

Evonik has invested in UK company Interface Polymers Ltd, which makes additives for processing and recycling plastics.

According to the company, Interface’s Polarfin additives can makes it easier to mix polyethylene and polypropylene, plastics that traditionally have poor compatibility with other materials.

“Many modern applications would be unthinkable without plastics, but recycling them is still a big challenge,” said Bernhard Mohr, head of venture capital at Evonik. “Interface Polymers’ additive technology offers a solution and is an excellent fit with Evonik’s Circular Plastics Program.”

Evonik’s Coating Additives business line has also agreed to use Interface’s technology in paints and coatings.
