Institut De Soudure Group branches out into composites

French materials testing organization The Institut De Soudure Group is strengthens its position in the composite market.

The Group has signed an agreement with PPE (Pole de Plasturgie de l’Est), allowing it to extend its activities, currently focused on metal materials, to composite materials.

The Institut de Soudure Group and PPE have been working together since 2007 on European R&D projects and also via their joint subsidiary, Composite Integrity, and specialize in the non-destructive testing of composite parts. This agreement allows the Group to gain full control of this subsidiary, which will have a mechanical testing and analysis lab for material composites transferred by PPE.

The organization plans to invest in the lab to bring its aeronautical certifications up to standard and to acquire new chemical and mechanical characterization equipment. It also aims to become a leader in the fields of multi-material assembly and associated non-destructive testing (NDT).
