EconCore has received a sustainability label for its recycled polyethylene tetraphyte (PET) honeycomb sandwich material.
The accreditation was awarded by non-profit environmental foundation Solar Impulse, founded in 2003, which recognizes products that address environmental challenges without compromising economic growth.
The honeycomb core is reportedly made of 95 per cent recycled PET, mainly sourced from post-consumer waste including (food) packaging, PET bottles, textiles and post-industrial waste. It can be used in a range of applications including automotive, transportation, building and construction, industrial packaging/graphical displays and furniture.
‘The Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label provides us with third-party approval enabling EconCore to stand out and demonstrate our drive and determination to invest in clean technologies, to do our bit to limit climate change and to generate further industrial opportunities,’ said Bianka Nagy, communications manager at EconCore.
