The ISTT award recognises the construction of the Czajka intercepting sewer in Warsaw as the World’s Best Trenchless Construction Project 2010. The award was presented during the 29th International NO DIG World Congress and Exhibition on trenchless technology in Berlin on 2-5 May 2011.

3 m HOBAS centrifugally cast (CC) glass reinforced plastic (GRP) jacking pipes were used for the trenchless installation of the intercepting sewer leading to the Czajka wastewater plant. Microtunnelling 5.7 km with trenchless technology led to the shortest possible installation time and kept impact on the environment and the city to a minimum.

HOBAS notes that the combination of installation method and pipe material meant that the PBG Group executed an economically and ecologically beneficial solution providing exceptionally long service life.

Implemented by the MPWiK Warsaw (City Waterworks) and supported by the EU Cohesion Fund, the project is part of the EU project 'Water Supply and Sewage Treatment for Warsaw.'

The HOBAS Group, headquartered in Austria, produces and markets GRP pipe systems around the world for potable water, sewage, drainage, hydropower and industrial applications.
