Gurit will be exhibiting its composite materials for the marine industry at METSTRADE 2019, taking place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 19-21 November 2019.
The company will introduce AMPRO, its multi-purpose epoxy which includes a bio-based system and natural flax fiber reinforcements.
According to the company, the epoxy be used for gluing, coating, laminating and filling. It has a low temperature curing hardener and 3:1 mix ratio by volume.
Gurit says that it will also showcase its ampliTex and powerRibs ranges of technical flax fiber reinforcements. powerRibs is a lightweight, natural fiber composite reinforcement grid, which, when combined with ampliTex technical fabrics, the full natural fiber layup can reportedly match the performance of carbon fibers in semi-structural parts.
The company has also reportedly been shortlisted for the event’s boat builder awards for business achievement for its work on a load sensing composite rudder project.
