German/Turkish center to develop textiles

The Institut für Textiltechnik (ITA) of RWTH Aachen University and 3T TextilTechnologieTransfer Gmbh have signed a cooperation agreement with leading Turkish textile export associations to create a research and development center in Istanbul, Turkey.

The aim of the ITA Istanbul Tekstil Arastirma Gelistirme ve Egitim Anonim  Sirketi(ITA-Istanbul) center is to strengthen the German-Turkish economic and scientific relations.

The center will be run by a management committee largely from the ITA of RWTH Aachen University under the management of Dr. Bayram Aslan. It will focus on the fields of nonwovens, clothing, decoration, coating and environment.

Extensive connections

The ITA and 3T GmbH have established extensive connections with companies, universities and industry associations in the textile sector in Turkey for more than seven years. They plan to strengthen their partners in Turkey and Germany through joint development projects, exchange of know-how and promotion of commercial and academic training.

In the facility in Istanbul, partners and industrial customers in Turkey will be acquired, supported and involved in joint development projects. In addition, German and Turkish companies will be helped to develop markets in the respective other country. The transnational co-operation will be supported in particular through intensive partnerships with industrial associations, universities and research institutes in Turkey and further expanded.
