Environmentally friendly solvent for removing epoxy and polyester resins

EpoxSol-GRIP is derived from Applied Chemical’s EpoxSol solvent technology, which is used for immersion cleaning applications.

EpoxSol-GRIP dissolves cured and uncured resins at room temperature. It is “virtually odourless” and does not contain hazardous chemicals such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) or methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK).

EpoxSol-GRIP sticks to vertical surfaces when applied, eliminating the need for repeated applications and extra man hours dedicated to cleaning, and thereby saving time. As EpoxSol-GRIP is fast-acting and non-volatile, less solvent is required than with traditional solvent cleans, according to Applied Chemical.

“The need to eliminate volatile organic compounds (VOC) and hazardous air pollutants (HAP) in the workplace is critical to meeting new environmental standards,” says Shawn Sahbari, Executive Vice President of Applied Chemical Laboratories of Sunnyvale, California, USA. “EpoxSol-GRIP contains plant and bio-based materials which are inherently sustainable and free of petroleum-based intermediates.”

Custom formulas can be provided for specific temperatures and methods of application, including immersion, wiping, and topical cleaning of equipment and tooling.
