CDI launches TIP™ program at China Composites Expo 2011

Part of the TIP program.
Part of the TIP program.

The Total Integration Program (TIP) delivers the design, technology, processes and implementation for advanced composite material manufacturing facilities. Primarily focused around prepreg manufacturing operations and related downstream activities, TIP aims to deliver world-class composite material manufacturing solutions for the wind energy, industrial, sports, aerospace and transportation markets.

The TIP program is based on 10 modules. These provide the detailed procedures, specifications, sources, training and auditing to ensure that the customers are fully capable and self sufficient within each element of the prepreg capability implementation process.

The TIP modules are:

  • Module 1: Strategic discussion and scope
  • Module 2: Facility layout
  • Module 3: Operational equipment
  • Module 4: QA laboratory
  • Module 5: Knowledge transfer and documentation
  • Module 6: Operational ancillaries and tools
  • Module 7: Production materials
  • Module 8: Installation and commissioning
  • Module 9: Extended on-site support
  • Module 10: Customer to supply

Throughout the program, in-house engineering project managers and composite material processing experts work closely with the customer‘s management, engineering, quality and material processing teams. The specification of technical requirements, facility layout, equipment supply, process knowledge transfer and operational implementation are executed through a detailed project plan.

"Through the TIP program, customers can be in full production and manufacturing their own prepreg at a lower cost, more consistently and at a schedule which is 40% sooner than if they did it themselves, giving them an instant and definite advantage in the marketplace,” reports Keith McConnell, President and owner of CDI.

In addition to launching TIP, CDI will also be on hand at China Composites to discuss its full portfolio of composite processing machines including hot melt and solvent-based prepreg manufacturing machines, resin filmers and manufacturing and processing equipment for tubular structures.

China Composites Expo 2011 takes place in Shanghai on 7-9 September.
