Carbon ThreeSixty invests in simulation software

Carbon ThreeSixty says that it is now using composite modelling software to develop new products and processes.

According to the company, it has acquired Altair Hyperworks to develop the design, modelling and finite element analysis (FEA) of products, ensuring that its composites structures are better understood before manufacture and physical testing.

Plans are to combine the simulation with different manufacturing techniques, such as tailored fiber placement (TFP) in conjunction with resin tranfer molding (RTM) and compression molding, Carbon said.

“The full suite of Altair products enables CTS to go from concept design to detailed product development not only on the implicit level but also on complex dynamic problems with the Optistruct and Radioss solvers,” said lead stress engineer Goncalo Valente.
