Carbon fiber motorsport

Carbon fiber company Umatex Rosatom, based in Russia, has partnered with an Italian motorcycle racing team to help promote the use of carbon fiber in motorsport.

The Kawasaki Puccetti racing team will take place in the SuperBike World Championship.

‘Cooperation with Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team will facilitate the promotion of Umatex products among the international manufacturers of motorcycle and automotive components, and it will bolster Umatex brand position on the international market,’ said Alexander Tyunin, CEO of Umatex.

‘Partnership with Umatex, the Russian producer of carbon fiber and carbon products is of strategic importance to us, since more and more composites are used to make automotive and motorcycle components due to the unique properties of such materials,’ added Manuel Puccetti, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team president.

According to the company, the global annual consumption of carbon fiber by motorcycle component manufacturers is about 600 tons in the form of fabrics and prepregs. ‘We target 5% of the international market of motorcycle tuning parts. That would boost our export of carbon fabrics and prepregs by 20%,’ said Andrey Ignatiev, sales director.
