Composites Evolution says that it has introduced a range of flax-reinforced epoxy prepregs for motorsport applications.

According to the company, the new flax-epoxy prepreg products include a lightweight woven surface ply (100 g/m², 2x2 twill), a medium weight woven ply (300 g/m², 2x2 twill) and a 150 g/m² unidirectional ply, with other prepregs, including biaxials and in fabric weights of up to 700 g/m², available on request.

UK engineering company KW Special Projects has reportedly used the company’s natural fiber products to produce a GT rear wing component, with half the wing produced in flax-epoxy and half in carbon-epoxy, to demonstrate the use of flax prepregs alongside other materials.
