Cabot Corporation to increase investment in elastomer composites

Rubber and carbon supplier Cabot Corporation says that it will expand its manufacturing capabilities for elastomer composites at its plant in Port Dickson, Malaysia, and create a dedicated elastomer composites team. The team will be responsible for developing new products and driving continued growth of this product line, with a focus on off-the-road tire, rubber track and mining applications.

The company has also appointed David Reynolds to the role of general manager, Elastomer Composites.

Cabot’s elastomer composites are made primarily of natural rubber and reinforcing materials such as carbon black. When mixed with curing agents, molded or extruded and then vulcanized, Cabot’s elastomer composites can improve rubber properties for off-the-road applications such as energy loss (hysteresis) and resistance to abrasion, cutting or chipping.
