Biocomposites event biggest ever

The organizers of the Biocomposites Conference Cologne (BCC) says that the event, taking place from 6–7 December 2017 in Cologne, Germany will be the largest industry meeting on biocomposites worldwide.

More than 300 participants and 30 exhibitors from industries and science are expected to attend, says the nova-Institute.

The conference program reportedly covers a spectrum of applications and material choices available for natural fibre composites (NFC) and wood-plastic composite (WPC) including biocomposites in 3D printing, for structural applications, in automotive applications, WPC in construction, granulates for injection moulding, bio-based thermoset resins and new polymers.

One session of the conference will be dedicated to the Biocomposite of the Year 2017 award.

‘With the latest advances in injection molding and 3D printing, biocomposites are of high interest for a multitude of applications and provide a number of new opportunities,’ the nova-Institute said. ‘For example, furniture and consumer goods have started to offer several options for product differentiation. More and more companies specifically use wood and natural fiber plastic granulates in consumer goods such as instruments, electronic casings, furniture, tables, toys, combs or trays as well as 3D printed goods.’

The preliminary program with featured speakers from both industry and science can be found online here.
