BASF increases prices for polyalcohols

BASF says that it is increasing the prices of its Neopentyl Glycol (NPG) and 1,6-Hexanediol (HDO) polyalcohols in Europe.

NPG will have a price increase of €400 per mt, while HDO has an increase of €1.000  per mt.

NPG is an intermediate used, for example, to produce polyester resins for coatings, unsaturated polyester resins, lubricants and plasticizers, while HDO is used to manufacture industrial coatings including lower volatile organic compound formulations, polyurethanes, adhesives, and cosmetics. HDO also serves as a reactive thinner in the formulation of epoxy systems, used for example to produce rotor blades for modern wind turbines and construction components for automotive lightweight applications.
