The AVK awards are in four categories this year:
- award for innovative products/components or applications;
- award for innovative processes/procedures;
- award for best FRP employer; and
- award for research and science.
The AVK Innovation Awards aim to promote the development of new products/components and applications using FRP, as well as new procedures and processes for manufacturing FRP products.
An award will also be presented to universities and institutes for outstanding work in the area of scientific research, while a further category recognises a particularly attractive FRP employer. The key evaluation criteria in this category are achievements in human resources management, corporate culture and occupational health and safety.
'Sustainability' is an important aspect of each submission considered by the judges.
The closing date for submissions is 13 April 2012.

The awards ceremony will take place at the International AVK Conference on 8-9 October 2012 at the CCD Congress Center of Messe Düsseldorf, Germany, in association with the COMPOSITES EUROPE trade show on 9-11 October 2012.
