Atlas Composites acquired by Senior

Established in 1997, Atlas Composites, located in Ilkeston, manufactures composite structures and tooling for the automotive, defence and aerospace sectors. It employs more than 60 staff.

Senior plc, headquartered in the UK, has 30 operations in 13 countries and a total annual revenue in 2012 of £725 million. Around 60% of the group's turnover comes from its Aerospace division, which produces components and mechanical assemblies for airframe and engine applications. Senior Aerospace Composites, located in Wichita, Kansas, USA, manufactures interior, structural, and ducting composite components.

This is all about creating long term sustainable growth for UK manufacturing. I am certain with the support of the Senior group of companies we have a fantastic opportunity to achieve our goals to grow the business, and increase our exports over a shorter period of time than if we remained a privately owned company.
Shaun Moloney, Managing Director, Atlas Composites

“Over the past 6 months Atlas Composites proved themselves to be a highly responsive and technically competent supplier in supporting our engineering team with the development of composite ECU ducts for the Mitsubishi MRJ and the Bombardier CSeries programmes,” says David Beavan, CEO of Senior Aerospace BWT, a specialist in ducting and insulation systems located in Macclesfield, UK.

“The acquisition of Atlas Composites will enhance the structural composites capabilities within Senior Aerospace BWT and the Senior group of companies.”

Atlas Composites will retain its name and will operate as a subsidiary of Senior UK Ltd.
