The challenge of composite fuselage repair

With both leading commercial jet airframers now having adopted composites for the fuselage of their latest aircraft – the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 XWB – airframers, regulators and repairers are facing a major repairs challenge.

Despite positive spin from the airframers, the industry is to an extent feeling its way on this issue and experts agree that not all the answers are yet in place.
