Interview with Hinrich Hampe, Toho Tenax

Please can you start by introducing yourself and telling us a bit about your company and your background?
My name is Hinrich Hampe and since the beginning of 2017 I have been General Manager Sales and Marketing for the European Market for the complete Toho Tenax Europe Organization.

Toho Tenax is a part of the Teijin Group. Teijin is a global Enterprise with over 150 group companies, roughly 19,000 employees and 7.4 billion USD net sales.

In my professional past, I was mainly concentrated on the automotive sector. I worked for the Plansee Group with its Headquarter in Reutte, Tirol/Austria as well as for the AVL Group with its headquarter in Graz/Austria. In both positions, my responsibility was for Sales & Marketing in different Units. Lightweight design for high performance engines, like Formula 1, Nascar and Moto GP was one of the main topics which had to be covered.

The latest position was Manager Product Group Composites, working for the IFA Group in Haldensleben, Saxony, Germany.

Could you tell us about the technology you specialize in and its impact?

We have been specialized in the production and sales of Tenax® carbon fibers in Germany since 1986. In the last decade we developed and sold semi-finished products based on our carbon fibers. I am talking about our Tenax® ThermoPlastics (TPUD and TPCL), Part via Preform and Dry Reinforcements. We focus on the segments Aerospace, Automotive and Industry.
