Velox expands flame retardant range

Materials supplier Velox GmbH has expanded its range of fire retardant materials from Italmatch Chemicals, which makes performance additives for as plastics.

Among the new products is Phoslite EXP PP/35 & EXP PP/36, an intumescent system for polyolefins based on the Phoslite range. Compared to existing systems Phoslite intumescent systems are based on different phosphorus valence numbers and condensation states, resulting in lower dosing. They offer very high UL-94 efficiency and char forming. In addition, Phoslite shows zero halogens, low smoke and a good resistance to a humid environment. The flame retardants are higher compatible with glass fibers, according to the company.

Masteret are microencapsulated and polymer-bound red phosphorus based flame retardant masterbatches. The physical form allows a safe transportation, handling and incorporation of red phosphorus.

Melagard is a non-toxic, environmental friendly product family of melamine salt based flame retardants. They are highly efficient, less corrosive and colorable. Compounds including Melagard show good electronical and mechanical properties while they have low smoke density. These products are available as melamine cyanurate and melamine phosphate. The main applications are in PA 6, PA 66, polyolefins and coatings.
