United Airlines has placed an order for 70 Airbus A321neo aircraft. This follows orders for 50 Airbus A321XLR aircraft from the company, Airbus said.

The A321neo, first rolled out in 2018, reportedly incorporates a LEAP engine with fan blades made from 3D woven resin transfer molding (RTM) carbon fiber composite.

According to the company, the A321neo has the lowest CO2 emissions per seat in its class and will help United reduce the airline’s CO2 emissions 100% by 2050.

‘Such a significant order from a great airline like United underscores that the A321neo offers unmatched capabilities, operating economics, and passenger friendliness,’ claimed Christian Scherer, Airbus COO.

As of the end of May 2021, the A320neo range had achieved 7,400 firm orders from 121 customers, Airbus said.
