Shannon Global Energy Solutions, which makes reusable thermal and acoustic insulation, has developed a new thermal blanket for plastics extrusion.

According to the company, the model MT850SSi blanket is designed to cut down on energy, retain radiant heat and improve safety, and can be used on any style extruder as well as extruder barrels, heads and injection and blow molding equipment. They have a maximum thermal capacity of 850°F (455°C), and are removable and reusable.

‘For every component we cover, we create exact blanket designs in line with a specification that will accommodate the required operating conditions, no matter how extreme,’ said Frank Kovacs, president and CEO of Shannon. ‘We’ve tested our MT850SSi blanket, and all the products we design and manufacture, under ASTM standards, so we can assure customers our design delivers safety and saves energy.’
