Technical Fibre Products (TFP) says that it will be exhibiting a range of its nonwovens at the Composites Europe show. This year on display will be materials from the company’s Optiveil and Tecnofire ranges and examples of how they are used in composites, as well as a composite bicycle frame and aerospace fuel pipe made using the company’s veils, TFP said.

Optiveil nonwovens can reportedly offer surface finish, adhesive carriers and supports, fracture toughness improvement and resin flow media to composites and is suitable for aerospace, automotive, sporting goods, marine and energy applications. It can offer additional functionality such as EMI shielding, electrical conductivity, galvanic corrosion protection and abrasion resistance.

The company’s Tecnofire range of lightweight intumescent fire protection materials reportedly can expand from 4 to 35 times their original thickness when exposed to heat, protecting the underlying structure from heat energy. The range is used in a range of applications and has been specified for use in bridges, fire doors, buses, trains, trams and structural panels. TFP also makes resin infusible grades to incorporate on surface of composites.
