ATL Composites in Australia has launched a new laminating system for surfboards which the company says can produce a clear, bright finish.

According to the company, KINETIX R111 is a solvent free liquid epoxy resin with a translucent blue tint that cures to a bloom-free finish that is UV stable and has improved resistance to yellowing.

ATL reports that the KINETIX R111 is available with two hardener speeds. ‘H130 Fast can be flipped within 3 hours and sanded within five hours at 25°C, which is approximately half the turnaround time of the H125 Standard hardener,’ a press release said.

‘[KINETIX R111] has a tinted blue undertone that creates a whiter brighter surfboard,’ said Jake Holloway, COO at Shapers, which will distribute the material. ‘This attribute allows epoxy surfboards to maintain a new board look for a longer period of its product lifespan.’
