The part, made of short glass fiber reinforced polypropylene (PP), has a homogenous fiber dispersion in very long flow lengths, Sumika said. It allows for metal inserts and fixtures and has an improved surface finish, meeting colour and UV requirements.
The trim is made with Thermofil HP compound which has higher mechanical properties than long glass fiber filled PP compounds, according to Sumika.
It also requires fewer nozzles during injection, has no visible weld lines, and has a shorter cycle time of up to 5%. The part is also fully recyclable at end-of-life.
