SGL Carbon says that it has delivered two non-crimped glass fiber textiles for the new version of Airbus’ H145 helicopter.

The materials will be used as part of the new five-blade rotor. They feature a unidirectional fiber orientation, making them more resistant and thus suitable for the geometry of the longer H145 rotor blades.

‘With the fabrics for Airbus Helicopters, we have realized, qualified, and started serial production for a material concept for primary structural components for the first time,’ said Dr Andreas Erber, head of aerospace at SGL Carbon.
