Sensor incorporated into composite frames

Haze Automotive, a Canadian auto parts manufacturer, says that its range of carbon fiber vehicle frames now incorporates submersion sensors.

The sensors, supplied by Montreal-based AWOS Technologies, allow car occupants to exit vehicles during submersion by automatically lowering windows and connecting to emergency services, the company said.

“Our vehicle frame can dramatically reduce the curb weight of the vehicle, thus extending the battery range,” said Sean Hazaray, Haze CEO and founder. By integrating the AWOS submersion sensors into our frames, we are taking a major step towards making our vehicles even safer for our customers, especially in the context of autonomous technology.”
