Hexcel reports that its HexPly M79 prepreg has been verified by certification company DNV GL for use in all DNV GL classed vessels.

The company has reportedly supplied composite materials to the marine industry since the 1970s and supplies a range of products including woven reinforcements, multiaxial fabrics and now DNV GL certified prepregs.

HexPly M79 prepregs can be cured at temperatures as low as 70°C for eight hours or 80°C for four hours, helping reduce tooling costs and increasing build rates.

The latest DNV GL type approval certificate covers HexPly M79 carbon fiber and glass fiber prepregs, HexBond 679 adhesive film, HexPly SuperFIT semi-preg, and HexPly XF2 ready to paint surface technology prepregs.
