Low-cure prepreg from Solvay

Solvay has developed a carbon fiber epoxy prepreg tooling material with a fast, low temperature cure cycle.

The company says that LTM 350 is suitable for applications in the industrial, aerospace, automotive and race car markets. It can be cured in three hours at 60°C or at temperatures as down to 45°C with an extended post-cure, according to Solvay. Tools built from the material can reportedly be cycled at temperatures up to 150°C. It is targeted at autoclave applications but can also be used out-of-autoclave (OOA).

Solvay’s prepreg is available in formats for both surface and bulk plies and has a 1-5-1 surface to bulk plies ratio.
