Glass filled polyamide for electronics

Solvay has launched a new glass filled structural material suitable for precision electronics com-ponents.

The Kalix 10000 series polyamide is a partially bio-based material made with renewable feedstock from non-food competing sources and is produced with 100% renewable electricity, the company said. It is available with a range of recycled content alternatives and offers higher heat resistance, stain resistance, and lowest moisture absorption, making it suitable for use in demanding electronic applications.

“The Kalix 10000 series […] not only exceeds the performance demands of structural and cosmetic frames for smartphones, but it also is a more sustainable solution that meets evolving customer needs,” said Andrew Lau, senior executive vice president of Solvay Materials.
