Lingrove, which makes components made with biocomposites, has made a fishing rod which has been nominated for the Unsurpassed Innovation Award at the upcoming CAMX composites show.
The rod is made of Ekoa, which is linen fiber pre-impregnated with bioepoxy from post-industrial sources. Ekoa, which was originally developed by the company, is available in dry fabrics, pre-pregs, as well as cores and resins. Ekoa has been used in a variety of applications, including musical instruments, such as a ukulele and a guitar, as well as sports equipment, including a bicycle frame and a lacrosse stick.
According to the company, the fly rods have the traditional feel of glass fiber with the fast recovery of graphite.
