TRB Lightweight Structures is supplying a range of composites parts for new trains in the London Underground Piccadilly Line.

The company is working with Siemens Mobility to make two sets of doors, bridge and stairs per each of the 94 nine-car ‘Inspiro’ trains that are replacing outdated rolling stock.

The parts can meet stringent requirements and specifications including the UK’s GMRT 2100 rail vehicle fire and impact tests, TRB says.

According to Toni Shepherd, director of sales at TRB, the company has over 40 years of experience in the design and manufacture of  components for the rail industry, and has made the majority of the UK’s detrainment systems currently employed on UK rolling stock.

The first train systems are reportedly due for completion in February 2022.
