Composite nacelle for Rolls-Royce engine

Spirit AeroSystems has entered into an exclusive agreement with Rolls-Royce to design and build composite nacelles for the Pearl 10X business jet engine.

According to Spirit, the nacelle is ready for assembly and has improved slimness and laminar flow to help improve aircraft performance and acoustic impedance. The Pearl 10X enables operators to travel ultra-long distances at nearly the speed of sound, the company said. Spirit plans to use its composite plant in Wichita, Kansas to provide aerostructures with kits that Rolls-Royce can install during final assembly.
