Materials specialist Sicomin says that it has supplied epoxy resins and adhesives to make a new all-electric foiling boat.
The Candela 7 is a 7.7 m open motorboat that uses carbon fiber construction and hydrofoils to create a near silent 100% electric craft with a range of 50 nautical miles (at 25 knots) on a single charge, Sicomin says. It reportedly has a wet weight of only 1300 kg, around 45-50% lighter than a traditional glass fiber fossil fuel powered boat.
Sicomin says that it initially worked with Candela to supply epoxy laminating resins to make the initial prototype vessels and has also been involved in the ramp up of series production.
