Victrex says that its gear design and manufacturing facility in Grantsburg, USA, has received the IATF 16949 certification quality standard for automotive.

The company says that this new qualification will make it easier for end users to work with one partner from concept to commercialization with regard to the development and testing of its of Victrex HPG based gears, as well as making the gears as a component for integration into larger systems within the engine, transmission, pump, actuator and chassis.

When compared to traditional metal-based gears, the company says that its thermoplastic gears have an improved noise, vibration, harshness performance, reduced CO2 and system cost reduction.
