German company Whitecane and composite specialists Refitech Composite Components and CG TEC have developed an all composite carbon fiber white cane for people with vision empairment.
According to the companies, the cane features a thin-walled carbon grip made by Refitech and composite tube made by CG TEC, making it more lightweight and easier to handle, while improving sensory perception. The design also has a patented yield mechanism that reduces the risk of injury due to a collision or a caught cane, and has a lightweight rolling tip.
‘Both companies have shown a great willingness to respond to our very specific technical and economic requirements, and find good solutions together,’ said Lüder Mosler from Whitecane. ‘This has resulted in a highly innovative carbon fiber white cane that has no match in the current market.’
