Bio-based acrylonitrile available

Chemical specialist Ineos Nitriles has developed acrylonitrile materials made using “bio-attributed” propylene.

The Invireo range can be used to make products for wind turbines, aerospace, automotive and rail transport, the company said.

The products reportedly meet German-based International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) and Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) standards of delivering a 100% substitution of fossil-based propylene feedstock, and have a 90% lower carbon footprint compared to conventionally produced acrylonitrile, according to Ineos.
