Toray Advanced Composites and BASF have reportedly signed an agreement to produce continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRT) tapes for the automotive and industrial markets.
Toray will produce the tapes using BASF’s Ultramid PA6 polyamide resins, reinforced with either glass fiber or with carbon fiber.
The CFRT materials will reportedly enable automotive manufacturers to design and produce components at a lower cost using automated stamp forming and overmolding.
