This includes the company’s carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic unidirectional tape and Leona polyamide resin. According to Asahi Kasei, the tape is stronger than metal and can be applied to automobile frames and bodies.
The company also plans to display cooling pipes for EV battery packs made of modified polyphenylene ether, its AZP transparent polymer, and a bio-based and biodegradable cellulose nano fiber (CNF) made from cotton linter. Polyamide reinforced with the fiber reportedly shows a thixotropic behavior, and it has improved material recyclability compared to glass fibers, Asahi Kasei says.
