Magna Exteriors and Interiors, an operating unit of automotive parts supplier Magna International Inc, is a global supplier of automotive exterior and interior systems, including Class A composite panels. It also manufactures sheet moulding compound (SMC) material, EpicBlendSMC™, in multiple formulations.
The new carbon fibre SMC material will combine Zoltek’s Panex®35 carbon fibre with Magna’s EpicBlendSMC SMC formulations and production expertise. The product will be branded EpicBlendSMC EB CFS-Z.
The new carbon fibre SMC material will enable Magna to offer an expanded range of lightweight parts and sub-systems for automotive, commercial truck and other markets.
Magna Exteriors and Interiors will also be able to sell the SMC directly to moulders.
