WinWinD develops arctic wind turbines

By Renewable Energy Focus staff

The first of the arctic wind turbines are expected to be ready for delivery by the end of 2012.

WinWinD says wind turbines designed for arctic conditions could also be used for mountainous areas in Central Europe.

“This is one of our focus areas. We want to make a significant contribution to cold climate area know-how also in the future and offer our clients the best wind turbines and services in the market to produce wind energy in cold climate areas, where especially icy formation on rotor is a risk for production,” says Antti Laakso, Marketing Director at WinWinD.

Finnish WinWinD already has experience with wind in arctic areas with their turbines operating in Swedish Lapland.
