TRB Lightweight Structures and Hitachi Rail have joined forces to develop parts for rail projects in the UK.

Hitachi has reportedly commissioned TRB to design and manufacture a variety of components for both projects including the production of cab interior door systems; toilet cubicle, bike and bulk, saloon and vestibule panels; and antenna covers.

According to the company, each element was based around aluminium honeycomb panels, which are lightweight, structurally robust and suitable for use in the rail industry.

‘A major goal for us is to be sustainable in the UK rail industry and that extends to our supply chain,’ said Robert O'Hara, category lead at Hitachi.
