Training support for UK composites companies

The agreement, which sees the formation of the Composites Skills Alliance, has been established to develop and maintain the industry-led occupational training delivery standards that support a growing range of composites qualifications and courses.

The National Skills Academy Process Industries will deliver composites technology skills and advise and manage a provider network.

Semta’s role will involve providing strategic leadership on the composites skills needs of employers.

“As an emerging sector, businesses working in composites have a vital role to play in ensuring the future prosperity of engineering and manufacturing in the UK," says Lynn Tomkins, UK Operations Director of Semta.

"The sector is driving a requirement for increased technical and higher level skills so it is vital that companies have the support they need to obtain these skills and this agreement will help provide this.”

"We firmly believe that the Composites Skills Alliance will provide employers, training providers and individual employees within the composites sector with greater clarity and support when it comes to training options,” adds Philip Jones, Chief Executive of the National Skills Academy Process Industries.
