The agreement, which sees the formation of the Composites Skills Alliance, has been established to develop and maintain the industry-led occupational training delivery standards that support a growing range of composites qualifications and courses.
The National Skills Academy Process Industries will deliver composites technology skills and advise and manage a provider network.
Semta’s role will involve providing strategic leadership on the composites skills needs of employers.
“As an emerging sector, businesses working in composites have a vital role to play in ensuring the future prosperity of engineering and manufacturing in the UK," says Lynn Tomkins, UK Operations Director of Semta.
"The sector is driving a requirement for increased technical and higher level skills so it is vital that companies have the support they need to obtain these skills and this agreement will help provide this.”
