Covestro says that its Platilon thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) films have been certified with Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX for direct skin contact for infants and young children up to three years of age.
According to the company, the films are breathable, waterproof and tear-resistant making them suitable for sports articles, outdoor clothing, furniture and seat covers for cars.
Covestro says that it also focuses on aqueous, solvent-free raw materials in textile coatings and recently introduced Impranil DLN-SD, an aqueous polyurethane (PU) dispersion which according to initial findings facilitates production of biodegradable textile coatings.
