TenCate Advanced Composites expands UK facility

The expansion of equipment and facilities is scheduled to be ready mid-2015.

We clearly see the need for investment in Europe and balancing our manufacturing technology capability and capacity with the North American activities of TenCate, which has itself seen significant growth in previous years.
Nick Tiffin, TenCate Advanced Composites EMEA

The "substantial investment" will bring additional capability and capacity for fabric and unidirectional (UD) based products, which are suited to applications in Formula 1 motorsport, automotive and industrial markets.

TenCate says the upgrade will also emphasise its commitment to support markets such as space, satellites, radomes and select aerospace high temperature end-user applications.

TenCate acquired the UK site when it bought Amber Composites in January 2013. The company has since set out the strategies to support growth within its target markets and build on a portfolio of legacy products. This includes the TenCate AmberTool® HX-series of tooling prepregs and further prepregs for the high performance automotive markets.

'This is very exciting time for the Langley Mill business which has been producing composite materials for over 25 years," says Nick Tiffin, Sales and Marketing Director of TenCate Advanced Composites EMEA.

"Our strategy and plans to grow the business clearly demonstrate our long term commitment to the market and we look forward to being able to service existing and new customers with both prepreg and honeycomb products in the coming years."
