Teijin joins aerospace development center

Japanese carbon fiber specialist Teijin Limited has joined the Aerospace Innovation Centre (AIC), an 85,000 ft2 facility located in Prestwick, Scotland owned by Spirit AeroSystems.

According to Teijin, this is part of its strategy to develop mid to downstream applications for aircraft, such as carbon fibers with higher tenacity and higher tensile modulus, intermediate materials including Tenax Dry Reinforcement carbon fiber materials, carbon fiber thermoplastic unidirectional pre-impregnated tape, carbon fiber thermoplastic consolidated laminate and thermoset prepreg.
