Suzlon and Idé-Pro improve wind turbine blade design

The wind turbine blade design solution is based on V6 technology from Dassault Systèmes with CATIA V6, CATIA V6 Composites and ENOVIA V6 as the main part of the solution together with extensive services to ensure a successful implementation worldwide.

The contract value of the initial phases for the wind turbine blade design project is estimated to more than DKK 10 million.

“Our goal has been to set new standards for future development of wind turbine blades by establishing a digital thread covering our total process,” says Flemming Mortensen, Senior Project Manager at Suzlon.

“We need to define a process from initial airfoil design through structural design and analysis to production and enable our locations in Denmark, The Netherlands and India to work seamlessly together in order to be prepared for the expected massive growth within our industry.

“We will need to embrace many of the same development processes that are successfully used in the aerospace industry. Not only shall we focus on having the best tools for advanced design of large composite structures, we must also focus on having a solution that will allow for many design iterations and still getting the right data out to our worldwide production facilities – and all the time with a focus on getting our products on the market within the given timeframe”.
