Scott Bader Composites Europe announces price increase

From 1 May 2011, or as contracts allow, prices for all Crystic® unsaturated polyester, DCPD, vinyl ester and Crestapol® resins, and Crystic® bonding paste and Crystic Crestomer® structural adhesive products will increase by €100/tonne.

Prices for all Crystic gel-coats and pigments will increase by €150/tonne, as a result of significant increases in the cost of titanium dioxide and other key pigment ingredients.

Scott Bader notes that this is its third price increase in 2011 and is in addition to the previous price rises announced during the first quarter of this year.

The company says this further price rise is necessary because of continued increases in key raw material costs, supply chain restrictions, and Force Majeure situations in Europe. These factors are coupled with ongoing strong global demand, especially from Asia.

Scott Bader is expecting raw material prices to remain at high levels for some time to come and warns that further price increases may be necessary.
